However the filming was not great, and the actors where not professional, so I had difficulty getting good facial expressions and dialog. The acting was not terrible, but I think next task I will be using actors that are taking a Theatre Studies A Level in order to get the best out of them. Also the camera movement was a little dodgy and not still, so in the next task I will use a tripod.
There are many good points that came out with my film, including the music. The music that I found on a non-copyright website worked very well with the action it was in the background to, for example the pace picked up when there was a lot of tension.
Over all for a first production I think my Preliminary Task was at a good standard of acting editing and camera work, but there are many improvements I need to think about for the next task.
I did also notice that I had not followed the 180 degree rule at the start of the film, and the match on action shot did not work becuase there is a slight cut between the two actions.
To fix these faults I would need to first start by cutting out the scene where the door is opened from inside of the room so that the cut is not noticable and the scene will have match on action.
I will then need to fix the problem of the 180 degree rule. The reason this rule is being broken is that the camera crosses the line so that the characters are shown on diffrent sides of the shot than they are through the rest of the production. To fix this I will need to cut out the scene that shows this and then I will be following the 180 degree rule.
Obviously with all the cuts my film will not match up with the music as well as it did so I will need to adjust the music to make it fit in again.
Here is the final version:
