Mise en Scene is all about what you can see in the background during a production, and is very important in making a good production. If you want the audience to be able to work out the genre of your film, and to be able to pick up clues on characters and narrative then you need a good mise en scene. This means that everything that is shown on screen has to match what you are trying to present to your audience.
For example if you had a slasher film then there may be some knifes in the background, where as you would not want lots of bright colors in the background because this would not match your narrative.
This means that when it comes to making my production, I need to make sure that my setting has a good mise en scene. For example in the picture below above my bed is a bright picture, that during the production of my slasher film I took down because it had no resemblance to my narrative or genre.
